A freelance travel writer since 1992, Mari writes and supplies images for national newspapers, consumer magazines both in the UK and abroad, high profile literary magazines like the Times Literary Supplement and BBC History, and most of the magazines published by the major airlines.

Mari is a Topic Editor for www.suite101.com on East Asian topics and Senior Travel and is also the Feature Writer on East Asia (Thailand, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Philippines and Brunei) for them. She posts a weekly article on East Asia as well as contributing a range of articles on European travel, military history and media interests to other sections on the same website. She is also a Feaure Writer for the web Travel Magazine, The Travel Editor.com

She has also recently made a return to general feature writing and has contributed quite a few articles on wood-carving (an old love of hers), short histories of various alcoholic spirits, a history of the Christmas Card, current superstitions etc. She plans to increase her work in this field.
